Violet Beatrice Rust (1911-1974)
Violet Beatrice was born in 1911. Her parents were Julian Rust, a kinsman of the Duke of Nottinghamshire, and Elizabeth Ann Milligan, who had Irish ancestry. She had a brother Cecil and two sisters Edna and Helene.
The young Miss Rust was taught by a governess, as was the custom of that time. Her sister Helene was her nearest friend. The girls enjoyed a life of extensive traveling. They went all around the world, from Australia and Vietnam, Paris to India. Mostly the sisters stayed on Sri Lanka in Kandy, where the girls had time of their lives meeting with friends and painting.
Violet died in december 1974 and left Helene at quite alone with just a retainer to care for her in her house in the hills. Her death had a dramatic impact on Helene who later confessed that her life had changed after that.
None of the girls married or had children.
